An Igbo socio-cultural group, the South East Forum, has urged the newly-registered All Progressive Congress (APC) to zone the 2015 presidential ticket to the South-East to deepen unity.
The call came less than 48 hours after the opposition coalition, APC, formally received the status of a political party from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The electoral body approved the application by three political parties– the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) — to merge into one political party.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the chairman of the forum, Austin Nnorom, said that zoning the presidency to the South- East would further guarantee the continued unity of the nation.
“While we congratulate APC over its registration we hereby advice the party to zone its 2015 presidential ticket to the Igbos.
“It is only fair that the Igbos, hitherto marginalized in power sharing, be given their turn to rule the nation,” he said.
